Let Us Pray

by Watchman Nee

It is a good primer on prayer. it also lays out a number of principals regarding prayer that are most excellent and not often heard. You can find this book on Amazon and Audible.

Why read this:

It teaches you how to pray. There are few things of greater value than that.

The Weapon of Prayer

by E. M. Bounds

This author is very well known regarding his extensive works on, and life of, prayer. Just about anything he wrote is well worth the reading on this subject.

Why read this:

Because this brother knew God and lived a life of prayer.

Abide In Christ

by Andrew Murray

This saint teaches the most foundational principal of a truly of God Life, the title says it all. If you really want to know how to know Christ, how to really be a believer, then read this book.

Why read this:

If you don't learn the very simple lesson this book teaches you will never understand the life of a believer in and of God. This is one of those books everyone who professes the Name of Christ simply must read. if you actually read this book {it is available on Audible} do so in a spirit of prayer. Ask The Lord to open your heart and cause you to "get" the message of this book. If you are not in the right place you'll miss the message entirely, and that would be a loss I have not words to describe.

The Elijah Task

by John and Paula Sandford

This is a book written to the prophetically inclined. This book describes the training, office, and experience of modern day intercessors and prophets. I believe this to be one of the best books written on this subject and highly recommend it to any who thinks it may apply to him or her.

Why read this:

If you are one of those prophetically inclined souls, God have Mercy on you. If you are such an one this book will turn on all kinds of lights in your own experience; and if you are not such an one you will likely not "get", or even care for, this book at all. This is a question of degree. If you are not called of The Lord to such an office or function as it describes, He might still use it to help you better understand those who are.

God Has A Wonderful Plan For Your Life, The Myth Of The Modern Message

by Ray Comfort

There are many errors {theologically, doctrinally, structurally, culturally, and otherwise} to be found in organized religion. This book takes aim at one unspeakably important point of theology, what is called "Soteriology", or the study of salvation. The author, with great clarity, undoubtedly proves what is commonly believed to be salvation is NOT salvation, at least not by any metric Christ's Own Words, sound theology, or common sense would agree with. He demonstrates this with scripture, history, and modern statistics. The statistics alone are enough to make you aware that something is desperately wrong with the commonly accepted definition and understanding of what it is to be "saved". This book is available on Audible.

Why read this:

Why do you need to read this very small and easy to read book? You need to KNOW without any doubt that you are in possession of "Eternal Life, or rather, that IT is in possession of you. I am thoroughly convinced there are MANY in this world who sincerely believe they have Eternal Life when they do not. Many have believed a false gospel, it is what is commonly heard far and wide. Rarely do you hear the whole true message declared, and even more rare is when it is declared with POWER. "The Kingdom of God is NOT in word, but in POWER". And "let him who thinks he stands take heed, lest he fall". Do not settle simply for assurance from your pastor or any respected other, such are NOT responsible for your relationship with God, YOU are. Find out for yourself: read this and other books like it, pray fervently, and ask God to, by His Spirit, show you where you do stand. And settle for nothing less.

The Gospel According To Jesus

by John MacArthur

This book sketches a clear portrait of what a genuine Believer is, and by contrast it shows plainly what a True Believer is not. The author simply repeats and clarifies what Christ Himself said over, and over, and over. A call to follow Christ is a call to death, the death of sin and of self; and be sure the two can hardly be separated. This book makes very clear the modern day conception of a Believer, and The Biblical one both Christ and Paul so often spoke of, are two diametrically opposed concepts.

Why read this:

Why read this book? So that you understand what you have commonly heard and come to believe regarding things like Salvation, Eternal Life, Redemption, etc. are likely not true. The words that are often used ARE usually the right words, but THE MEANING of those words is drastically different. The dictionary we have been given is wrong. Jesus said what He said, The way He said it, and meant it just that way. Christ meant EXACTLY what He said. This book will open your eyes to the true meaning of all those scriptures so commonly known and so rarely understood. Once you see it, if you can, it WILL change you. Beyond that it will also help you understand why so many times you, and others, have tried unsuccessfully to stand on promises enumerated in The Word. You'll begin to understand those promises are for those who sincerely DO "believe" and who, of an honest and true heart, do take up their cross and follow. Salvation will cost you EVERYTHING, but what you receive in return is beyond any comprehension or measure. Read this book!

Christ The Healer

by F.F. Bosworth

This is one of the greatest classics ever written on this particular subject, and has been recognized far and wide as such. There have been many healed of various things while reading this work; once you understand the same gift of salvation that saves you is the same gift that heals you, once you realize the same faith through which you receive salvation is the same faith by which you are made whole, then healing becomes a simple thing.

Why read this:

To build up your faith for healing. When you go to God seeking something it is often a good idea to give Him something to work with. Remember: "faith without works is dead being alone". A man can receive nothing except it is given him of Heaven, and you need faith to receive with. In order to build up your faith you need to: soak up the Word of God via God's Word given to you directly, The Bible, books of anointed saints such as Bosworth, hearing the testimony of others whom God has blessed, meditation on all the afore mentioned, etc. Growing in Christ takes commitment, dedication, and self-denial; taking up your cross and following daily is not for the faint of heart.

The Cost of Discipleship

by Dietrich Bonhoffer

This book proclaims without apology exactly what the title says: The Cost of being a disciple of The Lord Jesus Christ. It causes you to understand why the true disciples of Christ will always be in the minority, and always have been. If you wish to understand up close and personal exactly what that cost is, and why it must ever be so, then read this book. It leaves you NO place to hide. In order to be a child of God you must give your self to Him without ANY reservation. He offers all He has and is to you, and expects the same in return; it can be no other way, there is no other way.

Why read this:

So you can understand what the difference is between D. L. Moody and those who believe they follow Christ, but don't. So you can see better where you stand, and perhaps where you would like to be and how to get there. So you can understand what makes a Wesley, or a Luther, or a Taylor, or a Wycliffe..... so you can understand what true salvation is, what it costs, how it looks, how it feels, and what it will cost you. Jesus highly recommended that you sit down and count the cost, this book provides you an account of that cost. Every one who believes needs to understand the message of this most excellent book.

Bad Religion

by Ross Douthat

This book describes how Christian Faith in North America has lost its way, how we have become a nation of heretics. The author begins in the 50s and traces the process of how we went from a nation of a much truer faith in God to a nation that is now opposed to God. He also describes how this terrible error prevents us from solving many of our worst problems. The perspective this book comes from is unique. It is accurate, insightful, and very well worth the reading.
